Children's Dental Health Awareness
Day - This one-day event, sponsored through
our Foundation and the UMDNJ-Dental School,
is held at Liberty Science Center in Jersey
City each February during National Children's
Dental Health Month. This program is geared
towards preschool through teenage children.
A variety of fun, educational activities encourage
improved oral hygiene, preventive dental care,
and good nutrition. These activities include
interactive learning stations, carnival-style
games, dental-related arts and crafts, and
an "Ask the Dentist" station where
dentists from our Foundation meet with the
families to discuss dental-related concerns.
Volunteers from Delta Dental, UMDNJ, and the
Hudson County Dental Society contribute their
time and dental knowledge to this program,
which has approximately 3,000 attendees.
Dental Seminars - Our Foundation
annually sponsors two seminars open to all New
Jersey dentists and their staff. The seminars
focus on current issues and are accredited by
the New Jersey State Board of Dentistry, the
Academy of General Dentistry, and the Dental
Assisting National Board. The seminars are held
alternately in north and south New Jersey locations
to give all dentists in New Jersey the opportunity
to attend.
PANDA (Prevent Child Abuse
and Neglect through Dental Awareness) - PANDA's
goal is to help dental office personnel as well
as teachers, school nurses, and any other groups
of people who come in contact with children recognize
and report suspected cases of child abuse and
neglect.
