Both Delta
Dental of New Jersey and the Delta
Dental of New Jersey Foundation have their own Facebook
pages. Our Delta Dental of New Jersey page connects you to
online conversations about current oral health issues. Our
Foundation page provides a closer look at the stories behind
the contributions we make within our communities, including
how one recent grant is helping to improve the oral health of
those with severe disabilities. We hope you'll become a fan of
both!
Dental emergencies can crop up anytime - and they can really
put a damper on plans if they happen during vacation. Print
out these guidelines
so you'll know how to get quick relief from toothaches, lost
crowns and fillings, abscesses, and other painful conditions -
and get back to having fun. Also, before you hit the road, jot
down your dentist's full name, address and telephone number,
plus any significant information about your oral health, and
tuck the information into your wallet. And be sure to carry
your dental benefits policy number, too.
We hear this question a lot: What should I do if I don't have
or can't find my Delta Dental ID card? No worries. We don't
automatically issue ID cards unless groups request us to do
so. If you don't have a Delta Dental ID card, your employer
probably didn't ask that we provide them. That's still okay,
though, because Delta Dental doesn't require ID cards. We do
recognize, though, that dental offices sometimes ask to see
insurance cards. And sometimes it's just more convenient to
carry a card with you that has your benefits information all
in one place. That's why we also make it possible to print
your ID card from your computer. Just log
in to Benefits Connection and click "Print ID
Card." You'll have it tucked into your wallet in no time!
The Delta Dental Plans Association recently funded a University
of Michigan study to see if periodontal disease in
pregnant women contributed to bad outcomes in pregnancy. While
we don't know for sure if treating gum disease helps prevent
bad outcomes during pregnancy, we do know certain facts.
Infection is a risk factor for bad outcomes in pregnancy. Gum
disease is an infection. And it is safe to provide treatment
to prevent and cure gum disease during pregnancy. Delta Dental
of New Jersey encourages women to take extra care of their
oral health during pregnancy, including scheduling regular
dental visits.
A recent review of a popular online shopping site
found the following interesting oral hygiene products
available: Breakfast Floss ("The most important floss of
the day"): For just $10 you can get a three-pack of floss
in the flavors of bacon, coffee and waffles. Yum! And Vegan
Dental Floss Singles: Individually packages strands of
"naturally waxed" floss containing
"antioxidant-rich green tea extract." And we thought
cinnamon-flavored floss was different!
